Jean Forestier was born on October 7, 1930.

The French rider had success in both Grand Tours and the one-day events.

Forestier won the Points Jersey in the 1957 Tour de France.

In the one-day races, he won the 1955 Paris-Roubaix Classic in front of Fausto Coppi of Italy and Louison Bobet of France.

Forestier was also 3rd in the 1956 Paris-Roubaix Classic behind Louison Bobet of France and Fred De Bruyne of Belgium.

In addition, Forestier won the Tour of Flanders Classic in 1956.
