  Dietrich Thurau

Dietrich Thurau was born on November 9, 1954.

The German rider won the Points Jersey in a Grand Tour event.

He also won one of the five monuments in cycling, and stood on the podium of the Paris-Roubaix Classic.

In addition, he twice stood on the podium of the World Championship Road Race.

Thurau won the Points Jersey in the 1976 Vuelta a Espana.

He also won the 1979 Liege-Bastogne-Liege Classic.

Thurau was 3rd in the 1980 Paris-Roubaix behind Francesco Moser of Italy and Gilbert Duclos-Lasalle of France.

Thurau also was 2nd in the 1977 World Championship Road Race behind Francesco Moser of Italy.

In addition, Thurau was 2nd in the 1979 World Championship Road Race behind Jan Raas of Holland.
