Marcel Buysse was born on November 11, 1889. He died on October 3, 1939.

The Belgian rider stood on the podium of two of the Grand Tour events.

He also won one of the five monuments in cycling.

Buysse was 3rd in the 1913 Tour de France behind Philippe Thys of Belgium and Gustave Garrigou of France.

Buysse was also 3rd in the 1919 Giro d’Italia behind Italians Costante Girardengo and Gaetano Belloni.

In addition, Buysse won the Tour of Flanders Classic in 1914.
