Born on March 4, 1974, Dino Zandegu is an Italian former competitive road cyclist. His professional career began in 1998 and lasted until 2008. Zandegu was renowned for his climbing ability and excelled in steep and mountainous competitions.
Over his career, Zandegu won a number of significant matches. In 2001, he won the one-day Trofeo Laigueglia race in Italy. In the same year, he also won a stage of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali. In 2004, Zandegu achieved his biggest success by winning a stage of the Giro d’Italia, one of the three Grand Tours of professional cycling.
Not only was Zandegu successful in Italy, but he also had other successes in other nations. In 2002, he won the Malaysian stage race Tour de Langkawi. In addition, he won the mountains classification of the Tour de Suisse in 2004 and the Trofeo Melinda in 2006, both of which are renowned Swiss races.
In addition to his achievements on the road, Zandegu was a part of the Italian national squad and competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece. He finished the road race in twenty-first place.
Despite his 2008 retirement from professional cycling, Zandegu remained connected in the sport as a coach and pundit.
