Carlos Sastre is a retired Spanish professional road cyclist who was born in Leganés, Spain on April 22, 1975. In 1998, he began his cycling career and rapidly achieved recognition for his climbing skills.

In 2003, Sastre competed in the Tour de France for the first time and finished in thirteenth place. He continued to progress, and in 2008 he became the third Spanish rider to win the Tour de France. Sastre won the race by attacking throughout the mountain stages and establishing a substantial advantage over his competitors. In 2005, he also won the King of the Mountains classification at the Tour de France.

Sastre was renowned for his climbing talents and his time trial performance. During races, he was also noted for his humility and desire to work for his teammates.

Sastre served as a cycling commentator and team manager after quitting from cycling in 2011. In addition, he founded the Carlos Sastre Foundation, which promotes cycling and healthy living among youth.
