Pedro Delgado is a former road cyclist who originates from Spain. He was born on April 15, 1960 in the city of Segovia. Between the years 1982 and 1994, he competed as a professional cyclist for many teams, including Orbea, Reynolds, and Banesto, and enjoyed a prosperous career as a result.

The fact that Delgado won the Tour de France in both 1988 and 1989 is what brought him the most fame. In addition, he triumphed in the 1985 Vuelta a España as well as in a number of other prestigious competitions, including the Amstel Gold Race, Paris-Nice, Volta a Catalunya, and Clásica de San Sebastián. He also won the Tour of Spain in 1985.

Because Delgado was so skilled at climbing and in time trials, he was able to achieve great success in stage races. He was also well-known for his aggressive riding style, which contributed to his popularity among fans of motorcycle racing. During the latter half of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s, his competition with another rider from Spain, Miguel Indurain, was one of the most fascinating and talked-about in the sport of cycling.

In 1988, a positive test revealed that he was using the illegal chemical probenecid; nevertheless, he was exonerated of any culpability years later. After being found driving a car that had been reported stolen in 1994, he became embroiled in a scandal because of the incident.
